A full-time Research Assistant is sought to assist with the running of this trial which aims to explore the effects of e-cigarettes compared with usual care for quitting smoking when offered at homeless centres. The study is funded by the NIHR’s Public Health Research Programme.

About you

We are looking for a research assistant with previous experience of running research projects and excellent interpersonal skills and a non-judgemental attitude to help support this exciting new project. You would work with a team of researchers in the Centre for Addictive Behaviours Research within the School of Applied Sciences.

The skills and experience you will need to be successful

  • A BSc and MSc in Psychology or related discipline
  • Experience of independently managing research projects
  • Ability to communicate effectively with collaborators (homeless centre staff) participants (service users), the research team and the funder
  • Excellent organisational and research related administrative skills
  • Open, non-judgemental approach to homelessness, nicotine and harm reduction

The post-holder will be responsible for: assisting with the recruitment of, and building a rapport with, homeless centres in London and the South East; collecting data from participants; co-ordinating interviews with participants and staff; entering and storing data; and liaising with the clinical trial manager, other research assistants and co-investigators.
