We are seeking a part-time New Projects and Grants Assistant to assist with the monitoring of medicinal products currently in the development pipeline, to identify potential candidate drugs and vaccines for the DSRU’s post-authorisation observational studies.
Aspects of the role will include reviewing and updating the Unit’s database; undertaking regular scanning of appropriate materials to gather relevant information on new drugs in development as well as monitoring of appropriate regulatory websites regarding applications for new drugs; identifying relevant persons at pharmaceutical companies to enable discussions to take place regarding potential studies; and obtaining financial support for DSRU projects from the public, private and third sectors.
In order to perform this role, the job holder will possess at least a good degree in biomedical sciences or a related field. You must be able to critically appraise scientific data and understand biomedical literature. The job holder will be able to demonstrate proven competence in written and oral communication; be confident in the use of MS Office (principally Outlook, Word and Excel), possess excellent organisational skills, as well as an ability to maintain records with meticulous attention to detail and to be able to prioritise your workload. You should have an interest in the development of new drugs and vaccines. The job holder must enjoy contributing as part of a team, be self-motivated, confident and innovative with excellent communication skills.

This is a part-time position (12 hours per week). Salary will be in the region of £26,000 pro rata per annum depending on experience. Although some remote working is possible, the successful applicant will be required to work at the DSRU in Southampton once lockdown restrictions are lifted.
