We are seeking a Course Tutor for the MSc in Genomic Medicine to join the MSc leadership team for the new Genomic Medicine course, with responsibility for the continuity of teaching and student support throughout the MSc programme. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced academic scientist with an interest in postgraduate teaching to join the team leading the MSc in Genomic Medicine.
You will play a key role in direct teaching and supporting module leads to deliver their teaching. You will prepare teaching material and deliver some lectures and small-group tutorials, particularly during the first term. You will develop appropriate assessments in conjunction with module leads and co-directors, oversee and perform marking of assessments and examination as required, and provide regular academic support to students. You will manage the teaching timetabling and organisation, ensure course materials are complete and accessible, and that the course runs smoothly day-to-day in liaison with the Course Co-Director for Teaching and Operations and the Course Officer.
It is essential that you hold a postgraduate qualification in a relevant field. You will have a broad understanding of the current field of genomics and its applications, particularly as they relate to disease research and clinical practice in order to develop course content and delivery. You will require an aptitude for teaching with relevant post-graduate teaching experience, including developing and delivering in person and online lectures. It is essential that you have excellent written and oral communication skills, and have proven organisation skills, including time management and the ability to manage several tasks concurrently. Importantly, you will be able to work and support effective collaborations as a team.
