We are seeking a Building and Laboratory Assistant to deliver operational facilities support in a scientific environment. You will be based in the new Institute of Developmental and Regenerative Medicine (IDRM), a state of the art 6000 m2 multidisciplinary medical research facility designed to house up to 250 scientists and support staff. The building will provide containment level two laboratories, specialist laboratory areas, imaging facilities, ultra-low temperature facilities including liquid nitrogen, and glass wash services.

As one of the IDRM’s Building and Laboratory Assistants you will provide a wide range of support activities for critical services throughout the building. You will ensure that goods are received and receipted, organise meeting and seminar rooms, and provide general building support for users. In the laboratories you will maintain a clean and tidy work area to support research through collection and processing of waste and glassware. You will work closely with the other Building and Laboratory Assistant and the wider Building Services Team to enable the building to operate in an efficient and effective manner.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in a laboratory and facilities support environment, be focussed on excellent customer service, and be willing to learn new skills. A flexible approach, positive attitude, good IT skills, and ability to work well in a small team are essential. This is a broad ranging support role and full training will be provided. It is expected that successful applicants will take up the posts in the first quarter of 2022.

This post is fixed-term for 3 years in the first instance.
