Are you keen on a project that combines both theoretical and experimental research elements? Are you interested in biomedical engineering or system medicine? This might be the project for you.
The project is a joint venture between the School of Engineering at the University of Warwick and the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW). The PhD project aims to support an ongoing 5-years research programme funded by EPSRC UK, Dexcom, UHCW NHS Trust and supported by the Clinical Research Network of the National Institute for Health Research. It will provide a unique opportunity to apply research through the full lifecycle of mathematical modelling, data-driven systems modelling using machine learning approaches, ultimately leading to simulation and prediction applied in the health care setting to the management of gestational diabetes.
Eligibility: UK or EU candidates with a 1st or 2.1 UK Honours degree in either of the subjects: Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or Computer Science will find this studentship especially relevant. Excellent data analysis and computing skills are essential (e.g. programming Java/C/C#, MATLAB, R). We are looking for confident, self-motivated candidates with good interpersonal skills and abilities to perform excellent research leading to high-quality research outcomes and publications.
Funding: The studentship covers 100% fees (UK students only; worth approximately £4,500) and a tax-free maintenance stipend in line with UKRI rates, of approximately £16,062 per annum. International candidates are welcome to apply, but you will have to seek alternative funding sources.
