About the team/job
The Electronic Workshop is a service within the Core Facilities that provides support to EMBL groups in the area of Electronics, covering a wide spectrum of areas, such as automation, control, measurement and data acquisition. It has extensive expertise troubleshooting electronic problems as well as designing new equipment to meet specialized requirements.
Your role
EMBL is looking for a motivated electronics technician/engineer who will be responsible for designing, testing and assembling electronic devices to be used in the research laboratories. In this position, you will be in close collaboration with scientists and will be responsible for individual projects from the beginning to the end, including the testing and installation phase.
You have
The ideal candidate is required to have education as an electronic technician or engineer with several years of work experience. Good knowledge in digital and analogue electronic design as well as basic knowledge and skills in mechanical aspects of a project design are essential. Knowledge and experience in microcontroller (e.g. ATMEL) software development as well as in higher software languages (e.g. Labview, Python, C++) is required. Good knowledge in PCB design (e.g. Altium Designer) is essential. Ability to work in a small team, excellent communication skills, flexibility and the ability to work under pressure is important. Good theoretical and practical knowledge in industry standard hard and software is an advantage. Being able to communicate in English and German is essential.

The knowledge of Xilinx FPGA design will be an asset.
