A bit about Salford Archaeology….

Salford Archaeology is part of the Centre for Applied Archaeology, an enterprise Centre within the School of Science, Engineering and Environment (SEE) at the University of Salford. It currently operates three distinct areas of activity:

  • Commercial Archaeological and Heritage Services
  • Public/Community Archaeology
  • Research and Publication

Salford Archaeology conduct and manage archaeological projects for a wide variety of clients across the UK with a particular focus around the northwest, offering the complete range of archaeological consultancy and contracting services to the development and construction sectors.

What will the role involve?

We are looking for an individual who is passionate, professional and dedicated to the delivery of heritage advice. We are seeking a well organised and enthusiastic team player to lead our Heritage Consultancy and Built Heritage team. 

Whilst the post is campus based at the University of Salford, further to an initial induction, we are happy to consider a flexible hybrid working pattern of 1-2 days in the office and the remainder working from home, or full time in the office, whichever suits best.

The role will primarily be focussed on client liaison, generating new workstreams and managing a fantastic established team of heritage professionals.

Possessing extensive experience in the production of Historic Environment Desk-based Assessments, Heritage Statements, Environmental Impact Assessments and a working knowledge of Settings Assessments and Built Heritage, you will be expected to lead a team in a busy and fast paced environment, providing heritage advice, consultancy and built heritage services to our clients. As such, you will be able to showcase your established experience of heritage consultancy delivery. 

As part of the Senior Management Group, you will assist in the development and implementation of Salford Archaeology’s business strategy, to continue to deliver high quality services for our clients, whilst also developing new income streams.

In addition to the above, an overarching key aspect of the role is to contribute to our thinking and be challenging on how Salford can transform the way it addresses equity disparities, embraces diversity and becomes more inclusive.
