We are seeking an outstanding individual to help coordinate and manage support for the University’s extensive portfolio of research involving human participants. You will have substantial experience and specialist knowledge around research governance and or ethics, and of operating in the context of national regulatory and ethical frameworks.
The successful candidate will manage and deliver on the operational aspects on the good governance of research at City, University of London. They will report to the Head of Strategy and Compliance (Research & Enterprise), working alongside colleagues in the Research & Enterprise Office to facilitate researchers (staff and students) to comply with relevant legislative and ethical requirements, to ensure that research ethics and governance processes and systems operate smoothly and, as required, addressing allegations of misconduct in research.
You will work closely with researchers, Chair of Senate Research Ethics Committee, Chairs of Local Research Ethics Committees, administrators at the University (such as Research & Enterprise, Health & Safety, Information Compliance, Insurance) and with colleagues in collaborating institutions and external organisations (such as the UKRIO, NHS, UKRI) to ensure that the University complies with applicable regulations and guidelines, whilst minimising the bureaucratic burden on researchers.
The postholder will ideally be educated to degree level or have significant work experience within higher education in an administrative or other supportive role. They will have some experience or knowledge of the research environment and higher education. They will be an excellent communicator with the ability to build good working relationships with a wide range of colleagues within the University, and a good eye for detail. They will be able to work flexibly and independently to deadlines and will be able to encourage and enthuse others.
