About us:

The Department of Psychology offers a vibrant & supportive academic community with an excellent teaching environment & opportunities for professional development for staff. Consistent feedback suggests that we are a warm & collegiate Department committed to equality, diversity and reducing ‘awarding gaps’ that exist in HE.  We provide an exceptional educational experience for all of our students stemming from a research/practice- informed teaching ethos, highly effective and supportive personal tutoring across UG & PGT courses, and work placement opportunities for all UG students.  We consistently achieve excellent progression rates and low withdrawal rates across our UG & PGT courses. In short, we offer an incredibly rewarding place to work.

Our Department comprises four research centres/groups; the Quality of Life, Health & Well-Being Research Group, the Centre for Interaction, Development & Diversity, the Centre for Comparative & Evolutionary Psychology, and the International Centre for Research in Forensic Psychology.  Our facilities include EEG, eye tracking & psychophysiology labs, virtual reality & motion detection labs, interviewing suites & a baby/infant lab.

The University of Portsmouth believes this role may be eligible for sponsorship with UKVI under the Skilled Worker Route visa. Please familiarise yourself with the requirements set out before applying for this role. If you are unable to meet the requirements for sponsorship you will need to confirm details of an alternative visa to work in the UK when applying for this role.

We kindly ask that candidates don't send CVs or cover letters as these will not be considered.

Although the post is available as either a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer, only one appointment will be made. Please note each post has a different person specification/job description. You should also indicate in the ‘reasons for applying section’ whether you wish to be considered for the Lecturer or Senior Lecturer position.

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons & all appointments will be made on merit. As we are committed to the principles of the Race Equality Charter Mark, we would particularly welcome applicants from Black, Asian, or from other ethnic groups who are currently under-represented at this level in this area.
