Are you an academic with proven abilities to carry out teaching in the areas of Theology and Philosophy of Religion, with expertise in Religion and Human Rights? Are you passionate about delivering an exceptional student experience in a research-intensive Russell Group University? Would you like to join and contribute to the vibrant academic community in the interdisciplinary School of Philosophy, Religion and History of Science?
As Teaching Fellow, you will carry out both in-person and online teaching in the areas of Theology, Philosophy of Religion, and Religion and Human Rights. It is essential that you should also be able to contribute to the supervision of undergraduate final-year projects and to the personal tutoring of undergraduate students within the School.
You will be asked to lead the Level 2 undergraduate module ‘Human Rights and Religion’ and the online distance-learning Master’s modules ‘Concepts of God’ and ‘Philosophy and Spiritual Practice’. You will also be asked to provide in-person supervision and second-marking of undergraduate final-year projects, where needed, and to contribute to collaboratively taught modules, which may include ‘Introduction to Christian Theology’, ‘Introduction to Jewish and Christian Texts’, ‘Philosophy of Religion’, and/or ‘Theology and Public Life’.
You will also be asked to undertake a range of duties that arise in connection with the teaching of undergraduate and taught Master’s modules, including lecturing, leading seminars, and assessment, and will be able to teach at all levels of our varied programmes. Additionally, you will participate in and contribute to activities coordinated by the vibrant Centre for Philosophy of Religion.
You will have submitted your PhD thesis (or be very close to submitting it) in the area of Theology or Philosophy of Religion and have relevant subject expertise and teaching experience.
