Department of International Development

LSE Fellow in International Development

Salary from £37,197 to £44,802 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £48,168 pa inclusive of London allowance

This is a 1-year appointment in the first instance, with potential to extend by 2 years should funding be available

The Department of International Development promotes interdisciplinary postgraduate teaching and research on processes of political, economic, and social development and change. We are dedicated to understanding problems of poverty and late development within local communities, as well as national and international political and economic systems.

The appointed candidate will contribute to the intellectual life of the School through conducting and publishing outstanding quality research, engaging in high quality teaching as instructed by the Head of Department, and participating in the School and wider Department activities with appropriate mentoring from the Department.

Based in the Department, the Fellow’s teaching will be concentrated in DV442, “Key Issues in Development Studies” and DV420, “Complex Emergencies”. This is a Fellowship for an early-career scholar; it is intended that you will dedicate a significant amount of time to your own research, writing and professional development.

Candidates should have completed or be close to completing a PhD in International Development or Development Studies or a comparable interdisciplinary approach to the study of international development.

A strong knowledge of international development, combined with a developing research record in developing countries, is required as well as demonstrable ability to contribute to the teaching of DV400.

We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave and excellent training and development opportunities.
