Cell Services is a Science Technology Platform (STP) providing a range of cell culture products and activities to support scientists at the Crick. As the Cell Services and Science Sample Manager, you will be the first point of contact for users of the FreezerPro database. This role will include a percentage of your time spent in the Cell Services laboratories and the Cryostore.

Key Responsibilities

FreezerPro

  • Administer the Crick’s sample tracking database, which has a 1000+ diverse users
  • Check audit logs for irregularities and mistakes on a regular basis to ensure the system is working correctly
  • Provide advice and troubleshooting to the Crick scientific groups using FreezerPro
  • Create training aids and presentation notes to support FreezerPro users.

Cell Services

  • Maintain the STP’s databases, FreezerPro, ServiceNow and FileMaker, create any STP forms required and update the departments intranet pages to reflect improvements, tweaks and changes that regularly occur.

Administration and creation of reports, promotional material and other administrative tasks including importing cell submissions and monthly cell yield data

Cryostore

  • Daily checks of the Cell Services LN2 vessels, clearing the accumulated ice/snow. Ensure these tanks are kept maintained, for example checking the health of the hinges and reporting any faults to the relevant people.

Regular checks of the racking in the Cell Services vessels and, when required, replace them

Essential

  • A degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Extensive experience in all aspects of the FreezerPro database, be able to create new ways of working using this cell information database
  • Using your expertise in database, and software technology, can adapt and change our bespoke FileMaker Databases
