The Department of Theology and Religious Studies at King’s College London is seeking to appoint a lecturer with expertise relating to one or more South, Southeast or East Asian religions, whether Buddhist, Hindu, Japanese or Chinese. Expertise may focus on current and/or historical textual, theological, philosophical, anthropological, sociological, political or practice aspects, whether in Asian and/or diasporic settings. An understanding of relevant conceptual sources and language(s) is essential. The successful candidate will teach a range of general, introductory and more specialised and advanced modules at BA and MA, and should be willing to supervise PhD students. Different disciplinary backgrounds are welcome, and candidates must be able to teach and research within the context of a department known for the integrated, postcolonial study of theology and religious studies.
We welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates, and from members of groups that have been marginalized on any grounds enumerated under the UK Equality Act, including religion. Applicants who directly engage with communities of practice are welcome.
