Applications are invited for an MSc by Research studentship in the School of Natural Sciences and School of Engineering. The studentship (£15,609) is tenable for up to 12 months full time (subject to satisfactory progress) and tuition fees will be paid by the university at the rate for UK students. Both Home/EU and international Applicants may apply, but EU and international applicants will be expected to pay the difference between the UK student fee and the relevant fee rate.
It is expected the successful applicant will commence 1st October 2022.
Project title:
Durability of Graphene and Graphite Printed Rubbing Bearings
Project description:
The capability to print solid lubricants on a range of materials has opened the possibility to enhance the performance of a range of existing dry bearing products by the simple post-production step of printing a solid lubricant on its surface.
This project aims to evaluate the effectiveness of this step on bearing friction while forming a fundamental understanding of the behaviour of the lubricating materials.
