Research Assistant in Centre for Effective Innovation in Agriculture

Royal Agricultural University - School of Agriculture, Food and the Environment

Fixed term to July 2024

Applications are invited for the post of Research Assistant for CEIA, based in the RAU’s School of Agriculture, Food and the Environment. There is opportunity for candidates to be alternatively hosted at CEIA partner institution Harper Adams University, Newport, Shropshire (via secondment).

The successful candidate will contribute to the work of the Centre for Effective Innovation in Agriculture (CEIA). CEIA is a collaborative virtual centre of expertise, funded by Elizabeth Creak Charitable Trust shared with Harper Adams University, Newcastle University, University of Reading, and University of Warwick. The CEIA is focused on ensuring agricultural and horticultural research supports practical innovation that is relevant to the current and future challenges faced in farming, ensuring impact at the scale and pace those challenges demand. The Research Assistant will be central member of the wider CEIA team, working closely with the Manager of CEIA based at RAU. The post-holder will be expected to engage directly with leading agricultural academics and industry leaders across the UK in the Agricultural Universities Council (AUC), as well as playing a significant role in the development of the AUC’s research strategy project. The post-holder will also be providing and coordinating support across other CEIA projects, policy briefings, evidence reviews, stakeholder meetings and dissemination activities.

We are looking for a dynamic, impact-driven, researcher who has some additional experience either in research, industry or policy relating to agricultural R&D and innovation. The job holder ideally has a developed understanding of the complexities of adoption of innovations in agriculture, strong project management skills, and experience in facilitation of networks and cross-organisational partnerships.
