With a student community of 33,000, 4,500 staff, and an annual turnover of over £300m we are a thriving and vibrant organisation based in the heart of Sheffield.
Our aim is simple - to transform lives, shaping futures for our students and the Sheffield City Region, creating knowledge which makes a real difference, and being a beacon for what a world-leading applied university can achieve. Woven into the fabric and culture of Sheffield and the surrounding area, we are a university making a profound difference in leading improvements in social mobility, quality of life and the economy through the impact of our students, research and partnerships.
The College of Social Sciences & Arts is the largest of our three colleges and home to around 9,000 students and 700 staff. Its departments bring together a mix of disciplines such as Architecture, Geography, Environment, English, History, Film, Stage and Screen Performance, Psychology, Sociology, Politics, Law, Criminology, Art and Design, Media Arts and Communication, and Education. Our academic and research focus is on the arts and humanities, ‘space and place’, the applied social sciences and education. We are the fourth biggest provider of teacher training in the UK.
We are now looking to recruit an exceptional Dean to build on the progress made and help further develop and deliver our academic strategy. As Dean you will drive College performance to achieve outstanding results in teaching and research, promoting a culture of innovation and collaboration which attracts talented students and staff from across the UK and the world. Already at the forefront of sector thinking in much of what we do we are looking to recruit a dynamic and collaborative leader who can help shape the future of the University.
Reporting to one of our Pro Vice-Chancellors, and working closely with other senior colleagues, you will shape and implement the University’s academic strategy, ensuring our continuing success in teaching and learning, business and enterprise, global and academic partnerships and research and innovation. The role requires a proven academic leader, in a relevant discipline, who can evidence significant achievements in strategy delivery, business planning and the setting of high standards of excellence, all achieved through your exemplary people management skills coupled with your ability to collaborate across our community. Ambitious for our University and the distinctive character of Sheffield Hallam, you will be a passionate promoter of our values and strategy.
If you have vision, passion, creativity and determination to make a difference - we want to hear from you. For more information, please visit www.andersonquigley.com/candidates using reference AQ1413.
