The School of Social Sciences at Oxford Brookes University wishes to appoint a 0.6 Teaching Fellow in International Relations, each for a period of 12 months. This is open to any area of International Relations. The post holder will teach core International Relations modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level, both individually and as part of a team.

This is an exciting time for International Relations at Oxford Brookes University. Our team has an established reputation for teaching and research excellence.  Our highly-engaged academics have specialisms across a range of areas including radical theoretical approaches to International Relations, global development and the environment and critical security studies. Located in the School of Social Sciences, which includes Politics, Sociology, Geography and Anthropology, International Relations contributes to and benefits from the vibrant cross-fertilisation across disciplines.

You will be responsible for:
  • Leading and teaching on core and specialist International Relations modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level
  • Teaching students using appropriate instruction methods, setting and assessing students’ work, and providing lecturing and seminar support on other modules in International Relations (as appropriate)
  • Supervising and assessing students’ dissertations
  • Contributing to curriculum development including planning, evaluation and updating of courses and course materials
  • Caring for the pastoral needs of students including counselling, welfare and guidance.
You should have:
  • A PhD in International Relations or closely related discipline, or be near completion
  • Experience of teaching or demonstrable potential to teach International Relations at undergraduate level
  • Experience of, or demonstrable ability to, supervise undergraduate dissertations and lead modules
  • The ability to work both in a team and independently
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
