The Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM) contributes multidisciplinary expertise in the fields of Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences and Medicine. Through its dual mission of teaching and research, the FSTM seeks to generate and disseminate knowledge and train new generations of responsible citizens, in order to better understand, explain and advance society and the environment we live in.
FSTM is opening for its Department of Engineering a position for an Assistant (tenure-track) or Associate Professor in Civil Engineering, with a focus on concrete structures.
Your Role...
Applicants with a research activity geared towards sustainable and environmentally responsible development will be considered positively. This includes for instance the circular construction economy, low carbon emission concrete, integration of concrete with steel or renewable materials such as timber, etc. Digital aspects of Civil engineering, such as digital twins of buildings and BIM, monolithic concrete 3d printing for building, will also be considered with interest. The university offers excellent infrastructure and equipment in Civil engineering, including equipment specifically geared towards research in structural engineering and concrete. The Department of Engineering also offers a highly skilled and dedicated technical support team. The University also offers a High-Performance Computing cluster, currently at 1,7petaflops, that can be used for computational research.
What we expect from you…
The successful candidate will be an internationally recognized or highly promising researcher with proven competence in civil engineering sciences and industrial applications in the domain of structural concrete engineering. She/he will have an excellent academic record in the area of concrete structures, documented research experience, a good record on industry collaboration within the field and excellent knowledge about structural- and especially concrete engineering.
