This is a 2-year fixed term appointment to December 2024, with extension subject to further project funding

The Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment (GRI) seeks to appoint an experienced policy fellow to contribute to a major sustainable finance programme focused on the role of central banks and financial supervisors in delivering a net-zero and climate resilient financial system.

The post holder will contribute to design and lead on aspects of this programme, in consultation with the Programme Director and Supervisor. They will conduct policy-oriented analysis, in collaboration with the other members of the GRI Sustainable Finance team, on sustainable finance and net-zero alignment climate policy, with a focus on the role of central banks and financial supervisors. They will work as part of a team to deliver key activities and outputs for the programme. The post holder will also build and maintain networks, and lead on relevant engagement activities with senior policy experts and policy-makers ensuring outputs have demonstrable impact and inform decision-making.

Candidates should have extensive knowledge and experience of sustainable finance and greening the financial system, ideally with application to central banking and financial supervision, and will have a Masters in environmental economics/finance, environmental/energy policy, economics, finance, management, or a related field. Candidates will also have experience of working with senior decision-makers in international financial institutions, central banks or supervisors, as well as engaging with or working within financial policy institutions in the UK and overseas on issues relating to sustainable finance, climate policy or central banking.

Candidates should have experience of conducting high-quality and user-oriented analysis on sustainable finance with a focus on central banking, financial supervision. They will have excellent communication skills and demonstrable high-level analytical skills with the ability to produce high-quality analysis in a timely manner. Candidates will also have experience and knowledge of project management, including the contribution of other project team members, working with senior colleagues and liaising with funders.
