The appointment will be on UCL Grade 6.
This position will start from 01st September 2022 with an end date of 31st August 2023 in the first instance.
This Research Assistant post will take place at UCL, Department of Computer Science, and in particular, the Robot Perception and Learning (RPL) lab, as part of the RoboHike UKRI-FLF project on “Autonomous Quadrupedal Robot Navigation and Hiking in Challenging Rough Terrains”.
The main duties and responsibilities are:
To assist with the simulated and physical quadruped robot setup, including baseline and reinforcement learning methods for legged navigation.
To carry out excellent research and produce a publication, or other research outputs, in line with personal objectives agreed with line manager.
The main requirements are:
Expertise in robot perception and/or learning.
Experience with real robot platforms.
MEng/MSc in robotics.
Independent research potential.
Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
