Role Summary
The School of Mathematics welcomes applications for a Research Fellowship in Industrial and Interdisciplinary Mathematics to work with Dr Fabian Spill, Reader (Associate Professor) in Applied Mathematics and UKRI Future Leaders Fellow, and interdisciplinary and industrial collaborators, including at AstraZeneca, Bristol Myers Squibb, and Siemens, on exciting projects developing mathematical and machine learning models to make an impact on industrial and societal challenges.
The successful candidate will join a community of researchers in the Applied Mathematics group within the School of Mathematics, University of Birmingham, and the campus-wide interdisciplinary environment provided, for example, through the Institute of Interdisciplinary Data Science and AI and the Healthcare Technologies Institute. The Applied Mathematics group consists of over 20 permanent staff as well as a large cohort of postgraduate students and postdoctoral researchers and has a proven track-record in mentoring and supporting the development of early-career researchers.
Applicants should have a PhD in Mathematics, Computer Science of similar quantitative disciplines, a strong record of research and publications and a desire to work on industrial and societal challenges. Familiarity with mathematical or statistical modelling or data science is required.
