Lecturer(permanent)

As lead provider in a national consortium of Higher Education Institutions we deliver several degree programmes to newly recruited Police Constables in Sussex and Surrey Police, and Hampshire Constabulary, including a Degree Holder Entrant Programme (DHEP) and Fast Track Detective Degree Holder Entrant Programme, as well as the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA). 

To support the continued development and delivery of these new and exciting programmes we are looking to make an appointment at either Lecturer or Associate Lecturer level. Please see the Job Descriptions for further guidance on these roles. 

This is an exciting opportunity for those at the start of their academic careers as well as for policing practitioners seeking to gain experience working within an established academic team. We are looking for candidates with the ability to engage student officers and nurture both their desire to learn, and their problem-solving skills. 

We would particularly welcome applications from those with recent operational experience, who are able to apply their experience to support our student officers with investigations, including both volume crime management and more complex crime. Our innovative programmes run via e-learning and students are supported in their learning via our virtual learning platform. 

This is complemented by delivery of Master Classes in Surrey, Sussex, and Hampshire police training centres throughout the calendar year. All associated travel, accommodation and subsistence costs are covered by the University. 

You will join an established team based in the Department of Criminology and Sociology at Middlesex University. One of the world’s longest-established Criminology Departments, it provides high quality undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral education, complemented by a successful applied criminology research profile. Taking a critical approach to learning and teaching, we aim to empower students to be agents of change in society.
