We are looking for an experienced animal technician to join our friendly, hardworking team and be actively involved in the daily care and maintenance of animals within our biofacility situated in Cambridge.
The role holder shall provide daily hands on animal care performing general husbandry tasks to look after the welfare requirements of rodents housed within the facility. The role holder shall be expected to maintain accurate records, complete daily observations and health monitoring, alongside general hygiene and cleaning tasks. They will have responsibility for colony management and, in liaison with researchers and senior team members, provide technical assistance with both regulated and non-regulated experimental procedures.
There are multiple roles available and we welcome applications from candidates with particular experience working with IVC's, conventional caging.
Ideally you will hold an Institute of Animal Technology Level 2 or equivalent qualification, or at least GCSE (A - C) in English, Maths and a Science subject (ideally Biology), or equivalent. It is also desirable that the successful candidate will be expected to hold, or be ready to apply for a Home Office personal license with Home Office modules A - C.
You should be positive, reliable and able to interact with team colleagues and research staff. Experience in a technical/laboratory setting, with specific experience working with rodents housed in IVC's or conventional caging. Experience completing regulated procedures or surgery would be an advantage.
