We seek a motivated, experienced, equine practitioner with a genuine interest in teaching students as well as personal academic & professional development for a unique and exciting opportunity to work in the Leahurst Equine Practice (LEP), in the Department of Equine Clinical Science, University of Liverpool. The Equine Practice team currently has four full-time members and this position is to expand the team to five.
The LEP sees over 3,500 cases per year from clients based on the Wirral peninsula. These cases are used to expose students to first opinion Equine Practice. The LEP is also the PLEH's leading referral practice, providing the hospital with excellent teaching cases and the opportunity for liaison between hospital and practice vets.
The practice is well-equipped with dedicated practice vehicles with bespoke fittings for practice, DR radiography, portable ultrasonography, portable endoscopy/gastroscopy, modern motorised dental equipment and a full in-house laboratory. Practice vets work closely with the Hospital team and Hospital facilities are available for further workup for non-referred cases or referral.
This post is for an experienced full-time equine vet, MRCVS or equivalent, to work in the LEP based within the Department of Equine Clinical Science at Leahurst. The role would comprise approximately 50% clinical time, 25% undergraduate teaching outside of clinical duties (clinical skills teaching) and 25% off -clinics time.
The University has the right to close the vacancy early if it is deemed that there have been enough applications received.
