A Research Associate position is available for an outstanding and ambitious individual to undertake computational research on numerical simulations of combustion in complex geometries. In this project you will develop a framework for accelerated chemical kinetics calculations in an in-house code and perform high-fidelity direct numerical simulations that aim to investigate flame-turbulence-structure interactions in real combustor geometries.

You should have, or be working towards, a PhD or equivalent in mathematics, physics, or engineering, specialising in computational fluid dynamics or a closely related discipline. Expertise in developing numerical methods and code for research in fluid/continuum mechanics is essential. You should be capable of working under your own initiative. Excellent communication and organisational skills are also required.

As this role involves research at a postgraduate level, applicants who are not an EEA national or a national of an exempt country and who will require sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route of the UK Visas and Immigration’s (UKVI) Points Based System in order to take up the role, will be required to apply for an Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) Certificate and will need to obtain this prior to making any official visa application UKVI)
