Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in Electronic and Electrical Engineering

University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC)

Glasgow College, UESTC and Glasgow College Hainan, UESTC are joint educational institutes established by the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) and the University of Glasgow (UoG). We seek to recruit a full-time teaching post in the field of Electronic and Electrical Engineering. Successful candidate is expected to teach alternately on both Chengdu and Hainan campuses.

Job Title: Assistant/Associate/Full Professor

Job Posting Details

This post is full-time teaching faculty position, aiming at developing and delivering innovative undergraduate teaching curriculums for our dual undergraduate degree programmes in Electronic Information Engineering, Communications Engineering, and Microelectronic Science and Engineering. The medium of instruction is English.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To teach 4-5 courses per annum in the general electronic, information, and communication engineering field
  • To supervise and assess undergraduate innovation projects, final-year projects, and BEng dissertations
  • To provide GTA support in the labs
  • To contribute to the continuous optimization and reform of our on-going undergraduate curriculum systems
  • To contribute to the management and organization of teaching activities as assigned by UoG and UESTC
  • To engage in other teaching-related activities and services
  • To publish research papers aligned with our endeavor of teaching excellence

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • A PhD degree (or equivalent) in related discipline
  • Excellent command of both spoken and written English
  • Sufficient teaching experience and track record of proved ability to develop and devise teaching programmes, techniques and methods for assistant professor level
  • A substantial track record in teaching excellence and an internationally recognised reputation for associate professor or professor level

Remuneration and Benefits

  • A competitive salary, ranging from 250,000 CNY to 550,000 CNY per annum
  • Monthly housing allowance, and medical insurance and international round-trip travel allowance
  • Relocation allowance available to cover one-way air ticket, temporary accommodation, costs for covid-19 tests and quarantine
  • Partial reimbursement for costs in relation to the authentication of non-criminal records, terminal degree, entry visa and residence permit.
  • Paid Chinese public holidays and summer/winter vacations
  • Sufficient and efficient guidance for work permit procedures

About Hainan

Hainan Province is located at the southernmost tip of China. The west of Hainan is opposite to Vietnam, and they are separated by the Beibu Gulf. The eastern and southern parts of Hainan are deep in the South China Sea, adjacent to the Philippines, Brunei, Indonesia and Malaysia. Hainan Island is low and flat all around, towering in the middle, forming a topography of Qionglong Mountain. With Wuzhishan and Yinggeling as the core of the uplift, Hainan Island descends gradually to the periphery. Hainan Island consists of mountains, hills, platforms, and plains forming a ring-shaped layered landform with obvious cascade structures.
