Academic Services is at the heart of education and research endeavor at the University.  Academic Services is responsible for providing support and advice to all staff and to students to enable them to undertake their responsibilities effectively and efficiently.  It is also responsible for ensuring that the activities of the University are conducted in accordance with the University’s own procedures and regulations and in compliance with external legislative requirements.

Registry’s main role is to act as the definitive record keeper of students and of programmes and modules on behalf of the University. Its work underpins a student's academic career from post-registration through to graduation and supports academic and administrative staff in a number of areas including academic and student related Regulations and Codes of Practice and institutional and national quality matters.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead, develop and manage the collaborative provision activity at the University, which encompasses a range of partnership arrangements with other institutions and organisations, both in the UK and internationally. Alongside relevant teams in the University and its constituent Colleges, including senior colleagues and governance bodies, the Head of Collaborative Provision leads on ensuring that all quality assurance, compliance, contractual and other operational requirements are met. The role leads and manages the Collaborative Provision Team.

Key Main duties include

  • Provide day-to-day professional services leadership of collaborative provision activity
  • Provide leadership and operational management for the Collaborative Provision Team.
  • Work closely with relevant people and units to co-ordinate and oversee systems and structures for the effective management and administration of collaborative provision across the University, providing expert advice and guidance to colleagues, and raising awareness of and supporting engagement with collaborative provision activity and requirements across the institution.
  • Maintain a sophisticated knowledge and understanding of the internal and external regulatory requirements relating to collaborative provision
  • Monitor and issue all collaborative provision legal agreements, including drafting content, and to ensure that the University maintains appropriate legal oversight of such agreements, including review prior to expiry.
  • Represent the University’s interests at relevant national and regional fora, including liaison with other UK HEIs where appropriate.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategy within the division and sub-division.

Person Specification includes:

  • Educated to Degree level (or equivalent qualifications) plus significant relevant practical experience.
  • Authoritative knowledge of the work practices, processes and procedures relevant to the role, including broader sector/commercial awareness.
  • Proven ability to design and implement improvements to systems and processes that use existing best practice, and then refine those as necessary to ensure they remain fit for purpose.
  • Experience of translating legislation and procedures into operation and sensitivity to the competing demands and viewpoints of stakeholders in this process.
