The Fashion programmes at the University of Northampton provides the best possible preparation for the fashion industry with our Changemaker Values at its core. Fashion is a well established subject at the University of Northampton, running since 1996, we attract significant bursaries and funding from The Worshipful Company of Cordwainers and The Worshipful Company of Leathersellers, The British Council as well as industry and private bursaries.

We have had numerous prestigious awards nationally and internationally, most recently receiving three awards at graduate fashion week in London and two further national awards. Students collections have been showcased at Asian Pacific Leather Fair in Hong Kong, Ningbo Fashion Week in China, Lineapelle in Italy, PV in Paris, The Wing at Silverstone Racecourse in Northampton and African Fashion Week, London.

The BA (Hons) Fashion Design programme, re-validated in May 2021, has a focus on Sustainability and social innovation and enables students to experience all areas of fashion before specializing in one particular area such as footwear, accessories, fashion or textiles for fashion. The BA Fashion Marketing & Promotion programme sits alongside Fashion and both programmes work closely together.

This post is a learning and teaching post with a focus on delivering an outstanding ‘super supportive’ student experience, teaching contemporary and cutting edge CAD and digital skills across the fashion subject area and provide personal tutorial support informed by HE teaching experience.

We are looking to recruit someone who has:

  • evidence of ability to plan, design and deliver a high quality student learning experience in a creative and innovative way
  • evidence of ability to engage and motivate learners effectively
  • a willingness to get involved in wider institutional activities including ‘Changemaker’ and other initiatives which will deliver a social impact
  • an ability to lead the design and implementation of initiatives to enhance the student experience
  • an ability to work collegiately and flexibly as part of a team
  • a shared value in terms of our commitment to equality and inclusion in practice

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Degree qualification or equivalent in relevant subject
  • Master’s degree in relevant subject
  • Professional Recognition as HEA Fellow (D2) or teaching qualification recognised by HESA, or willingness to obtain within an agreed timescale

Desirable:

  • Doctorate in relevant subject, completed or within 12 months of completion
  • Relevant professional qualification
