We are now looking for a Learning Support Specialists to join the Student Services Department in Swansea, Carmarthen and/or Lampeter on a permanent basis.

- THE ROLE -

As a Learning Support Specialist, you will provide high-quality specialist learning support to students with Specific Learning Differences and other disabilities.

Reporting to the Learning Support Manager, you will provide first-line support and refer students to services providing further help. You will offer information, advice, guidance and practical and emotional support, using a range of multi-sensory strategies to facilitate independent learning and support students to identify their individual learning preferences and strengths. This will include developing and implementing Individual Learning Contracts with students and providing a specialist learning environment.

Working collaboratively with Learning Support Managers, Disability Advisers and other colleagues from across the University, you will ensure appropriate support is provided to disabled students to enhance their student experience.

- ABOUT YOU -

To be considered as a Learning Support Specialist, you will need:

- Evidence of current experience of disabled student support
- Experience of interpretation of documentation and regulations
- Excellent IT skills to ensure accurate record-keeping with experience of using e-resources
- To demonstrate respect for diversity and an awareness of boundary issues and other ethical and professional issues
- A teaching qualification
- A professional body membership for DSA fundable non-medical helpers

It would also be beneficial to have:
- The ability to speak and write through the medium of Welsh (verbal and written)
