Job description: 

To provide technical support for the Teaching and Research laboratory activities in the Department of Physics and Engineering.

The post holder will primarily be providing day-to-day support for technical services within the Department of Physics, including responsibility for the invoicing of users, maintenance, operation, training and booking of equipment listed on the Physics Research Facilities platform, including spectrometers, scanning electron microscopes, atomic force microscopes and thin film evaporation apparatus. 

The post holder will also provide occasional technical support for colleagues in the Department of Engineering, to include support of the 3D printers, covering duties during colleague absences and assisting with general research and teaching laboratory practices. They will also occasionally assist with logistical support, space moves and manual handling.

The post holder will assist colleagues in the delivery of large research projects across Physics and Engineering across the Strand and Waterloo Campuses including new teaching and research labs and associated equipment and techniques. 

The post holder will join and work with a dynamic team of technicians, supporting teaching and research activities in state-of-the-art laboratories across Physics and Engineering.
