About the Role
Applications are sought for a talented Bioinformatician to join the CRUK Barts Cancer Centre Bioinformatics Core Facility. The post holder will provide computational expertise to on-going research and expand on new data research activities. Primarily, our work encompasses: (i) improvement of our existing pipelines and develop new pipelines/algorithms for the analyses of cancer big-data generated from various platforms, and produce high-quality results; (ii) working closely with other team members to expand our bioinformatics research and contributing to MSc Cancer Genomics & Data Science teaching; (iii) working and communicating well with biologists/clinicians to guide/strengthen their on-going research; (iv) leading informatics of research and contributing intellectually to publications and grant applications. The post holder is expected to be highly motivated, hard-working and efficient in time and task management. The post will be based in the Centre for Cancer Genomics and Computational Biology.
Essential requirements for this post include an MSc in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genetics, Genomics or a relevant discipline (PhD is desirable). Candidates must demonstrate knowledge and experience in large-scale sequencing data analysis. Experience in single-cell analysis, and/or in data integration and machine-learning is much desired. A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain good laboratory records are also essential.

The Barts Cancer Institute hosts some of the most eminent cancer research teams in London. As part of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL, research at the BCI focuses on how to reduce the burden of disease and improve patient survival through early detection and diagnosis and the discovery and development of more effective and innovative therapies.

The post is based at the Charterhouse Square Campus in London. It is full time (35 hours per week), fixed term appointment for 36 months (with an option of another 24 months extension), with an expected start date of 1st December 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter. The starting salary will be Grade 4-5, in the range of £35,775 - £42,021 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
