We are currently inviting applications for a PhD in Law  funded by the Economic and Social Research Council as part of the South East Network for Social Sciences (SeNSS) Doctoral Training Partnership. The School of Law prides itself on providing an inclusive, vibrant and supportive research environment to our thriving community of doctoral researchers. We have three active research themes in the School:

  1. Law, Society and Justice;
  2. Global Law at Reading and
  3. The Centre for Commercial Law and Financial Regulation.

We invite applications from candidates with research interests relevant to any of these broad fields.

Funding Details:  

  • Tuition fees, UKRI stipend and application access to funding for training, travel, fieldwork and overseas visits
  • Starts October 2023
  • 3 and 4-year awards available depending on project and researcher experience/qualifications
  • Open to applications from candidates without a Master’s qualification
  • Available full- or part-time

Applications are open to UK and International applicants. *ESRC SeNSS funding covers tuition fees at the Home rate and the University of Reading will cover the difference between Home and International fees. All awards are open to candidates wishing to study part-time.  Applications from candidates without a Master’s degree and from groups under-represented in doctoral study are encouraged.
