The HBU-UCLan School of Media, Communication and Creative Industries Joint School is a partnership between Hebei University, P.R. China and the University of Central Lancashire, UK. Established in 2014 with over 750 students studying on the following UCLan programmes:
Hebei University (HBU) is located in the historic city of Baoding, approximately 36 minutes from Beijing by fast train. The city is becoming a commuter base for Beijing and Hebei Province.
The Joint School has non-independent status and is approved by the Ministry of Education in China.
We have recently (May 2022) had a very successful outcome to a Periodic Review of the undergraduate programmes offered by the Joint School, and have successfully validated 3 new Masters level programmes to be offered in China from September 2022. The highly successful UCLan research initiative ‘Research Centre for Cultural Preservation through Creative Practice’ is also now based out in China with facilities within the partnership. This provides exciting new opportunities for staff to build research profiles within a unique, dynamic and cross-cultural environment.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and resourceful experienced Lecturer in Animation to join the team delivering the BA (Hons) Animation programme.
The Joint School has recently moved into a new building with outstanding facilities and resources, and this is undoubtedly an outstanding opportunity to work as part of a global team, to support a high quality creative industries facility and to nurture new content development within an unique cross-cultural setting.

The post is regulated by Chinese Labour Laws and must comply with the regulations of the provincial government. These regulations stipulate who is eligible for legal work in relation to obtaining a work permit/visa. The regulations in Hebei province will require, police criminal records check, health check and a Master’s degree (in a related discipline). The regulations in Hebei province may preclude people over the age of 60 from obtaining a PRC work permit.
