The Department of Education at the University of York wishes to appoint a full-time Postdoctoral Researcher to work with Professor Rob Klassen on a 3-year ESRC-funded research project, Rethinking teacher recruitment: New approaches to attracting prospective STEM teachers. The project is focused on developing and testing recruitment messages and technologies (including ‘persuasive games’) designed to recruit STEM undergraduates into teacher training. The post is available from 1 February 2023 until 30 November 2025.

The postdoc will be involved in designing and carrying out research studies, recruiting participants, data collection/analysis, and disseminating results. Project management tasks will make up a small proportion of time. The chosen applicant will work closely with the PI (Klassen), the Co-Is (Beng Huat See from Durham University and Hui Wang from the Education University of Hong Kong), and with the game design team (game designer, software developer, content writer, and graphic designer). Applicants with experience conducting and publishing research using quantitative and experimental or longitudinal designs would be preferred. Knowledge of educational technology, initial teacher education, or teacher recruitment would be advantageous. Applicants will preferably have a PhD in a field within education or psychology.
