The Department of Biochemistry is inviting applicants for a Laboratory Technician position that will be based in the Carrington and Waller laboratories. These laboratories study single-celled organisms that play major roles in both human and animal diseases, as well as provide essential environmental processes. We use a wide range of biochemical, molecular and microscopy techniques to study these systems.
The successful applicant will play an important role in supporting the research efforts of both laboratories. Duties will include cell tissue culture, preparation of chemicals and reagents, and assisting in the management of laboratory safety and general operations. There will likely be opportunity to be involved in molecular biology and microscopy studies as well.
Applicants should have an HNC (or equivalent level) qualification in a biological subject. This position requires experience within research laboratories with preference for molecular and/or biochemical microbiology. Good organisation skills and close attention to detail are essential, as are good written and oral communication skills.
