The Neurology Service at the Small Animal Hospital, School of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Glasgow is looking for a part time neurologist with a keen interest in canine epilepsy. This additional post is being sought to set-up an epilepsy clinic within the service to promote holistic care of the epilepsy patient and establish a more streamlined approach to collect data and samples for epilepsy research.

You will deliver an efficient and effective small animal epilepsy referral service by providing expertise and clinical activity in the Small Animal Hospital. You will also enhance and develop the delivery of clinical teaching to undergraduates, clinical scholars and to undertake clinical research/scholarship within the neurology service thereby contributing to the School objectives relevant to national and international excellence in clinical service, teaching and research.

The Neurology/Neurosurgery Service is one of the most on demand clinics in the Small Animal Hospital and one of the largest neurology clinics in Europe. The team of the Neurology / Neurosurgery Service includes Diplomates and Residents of the European College of Veterinary Neurology (ECVN) and have dedicated Specialist Neurology Support Nurses. The service is also supported by an on-site rehabilitation and physiotherapy service.

The Veterinary School has recently been rated 7th in the World and 1st in the UK for quality of education and training. Clinical audit is undertaken formally, and staff maintain clinical and research links with leading veterinary authorities worldwide, in order to expand skill sets.

We welcome applications from candidates who hold a Veterinary degree registerable with RCVS and post-graduate clinical experience in small animal neurology of a sufficient standard to meet the credentials of a clinical accrediting board.
