Applications are invited for a Research Associate position in the Department of Chemistry at Imperial College London (White City Campus) to carry out research in the area of battery science in the group of Dr Tapia-Ruiz. The role will give you the opportunity to develop new low-cost and sustainable battery technologies to fight climate change.
The position is funded through the Faraday Institution (www.faraday.ac.uk) to work in close collaboration with the NEXGENNA project (Next Generation of Sodium-ion batteries (https://www.nexgenna.org/) and Deregallera (https://www.deregallera.com/).
You will work on the development of new high-performing hard-carbon-based composite anode materials for sodium-ion batteries with potential commercial interest, using advanced characterisation techniques to understand structure-property-performance relationships in these materials.
Duties and responsibilities
Research Assistant: Near completion of a PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experienceExperience in synthesis, electrochemical testing and advanced characterisation (diffraction, spectroscopic or microscopic methods) of battery materials.
This is a full time, fixed term position for 12 months in the first instance, with the possibility of a further extension subject to funding. You will be based at White City Campus.
