De Montfort University (DMU) are looking to appoint a new Head of School Engineering and Sustainable Development, Faculty of Computing, Engineering, and Media. The faculty is home to a diverse range of courses across three specialist schools, the School of Computer Science and Informatics, School of Engineering and Sustainable Development, and the Leicester Media School. Our courses are taught by experienced academics in professional facilities using cutting-edge technology equipping students with the skills and specialist knowledge to solve real-world problems. We are proud of our achievements in the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Media and look to make a further senior appointment to support the PVC/Dean in our journey.
As the Head of School for Engineering and Sustainable Development, you will work closely with the Dean and Pro Vice Chancellor and will be a part of the faculty’s senior leadership team. You will be providing strategic leadership by way of policy and decision-making building upon existing academic, professional and research strengths in the school.
In your new role, you will provide strategic research and academic leadership within the School through effective strategic planning, operational management and leading by example. You will develop and strategic plans and goals - inclusive of plans for teaching and learning, research and commercial activity. You will engage in managerial and administrative functions. You will assume responsibility for oversight of Student Recruitment and effectively contribute to targets regarding Student Engagement, Access and Participation and, Graduate Outcomes. You will also communicate internal policies and procedures to staff.
What you will need to succeed
With a strong track record in academic leadership, strategic leadership and management experience, you will add value in not only leading the School, but playing a key leadership role across the faculty. Your substantive background will be in one of the disciplines represented within the School, yet you will have the interest and empathy to be credible across all disciplines.
