The University of Hull is committed to supporting the growth of SMEs across its region and has established a portfolio of services to support this. Central to this are the SparkFund Programme and the Help to Grow initiative.

The University of Hull has successfully established the SparkFund programme utilising European Regional Development Fund, and has been supporting SMEs in the York, North Yorkshire, East Riding (YNYER), and Humber region since 2017. The funding, in the form of Innovation Vouchers and Grants for R&D, provides support to SMEs across a range of industry sectors through research and innovation in products, processes and services and to develop new business opportunities.

The University, through its Business School, is delivering the UK Government sponsored Help to Grow: Management course.

The post holder will be responsible for maintaining accurate time sheets for their work on the projects, which will be split as follows:

  • 50% on Help to Grow: Management

The post holder will work to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of services outputs and targets as well as successful recruitment to Help to Grow: Management and subsequent engagement with the programme’s alumni. The post holder will be part of a team of Innovation Managers and will be expected to work within the project team in a collaborative and responsive manner.

SME Innovation and Growth Manager will report to the SparkFund Programme Manager and will have a reporting responsibility to the Faculty Director of Business Engagement and Enterprise in the Business School.
