This role is based at the BGS offices in Edinburgh, which are situated on the Heriot-Watt University campus
UKRI Pay Band D – salary range is £31,931 to £34,709 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience)

About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a talented and motivated Desktop Engineer who will work in the Service Desk and Desktop Team, which is part of the BGS IT, Security and Application Development function.
The Desktop Engineer will play a key role in supporting, maintaining, and improving the end user device estate, which is critical to the functioning of BGS and in achieving Cyber Essentials Plus (CE+) certification. The key duties/responsibilities of this post will include:
About you
Although an ITIL qualification would be highly desirable, it is more important that you have a good level of experience working in a busy IT support role and you must have experience of working with desktop/laptop computers, with anti-virus/malware systems, troubleshooting PC issues and dealing with print servers/printers.
We are looking for someone who is confident in their ability to work through complex problems, to provide solutions, and be able to rapidly adapt to new demands and technologies in an ever-changing IT working environment.
