About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented and motivated Desktop Engineer who will work in the Service Desk and Desktop Team, which is part of the BGS IT, Security and Application Development function.

The Desktop Engineer will play a key role in supporting, maintaining, and improving the end user device estate, which is critical to the functioning of BGS and in achieving Cyber Essentials Plus (CE+) certification. The key duties/responsibilities of this post will include:

  • The build of new end user devices while considering CE+ restraints and licencing.
  • The management of Windows and Microsoft Applications using Microsoft Intune.
  • The management of Windows end user devices using ManageEngine.
  • Security Management using Microsoft ATP/Windows Defender.

About you

Although an ITIL qualification would be highly desirable, it is more important that you have a good level of experience working in a busy IT support role and you must have experience of working with desktop/laptop computers, with anti-virus/malware systems, troubleshooting PC issues and dealing with print servers/printers.

We are looking for someone who is confident in their ability to work through complex problems, to provide solutions, and be able to rapidly adapt to new demands and technologies in an ever-changing IT working environment.

Please also refer to the specific essential and desirable skills criteria for this post.

The closing date for receipt of applications is 8th January 2023. Interviews are expected to be held in late January in Edinburgh.
