JOB OVERVIEW

UK SIC is running an exciting programme focused on aspiring PhD students and the role holder will be required to work with the students to transform their language competencies. You will play an important by contributing to teaching materials, assessment strategies and tutorial support for the students. You will also be required to mark assessments and provide feedback to students.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and deliver teaching seminars and tutorial sessions, with a normal teaching load of up to 15 hours per week
  • Contribute to the delivery and development of modules and teaching sessions offered by the Centre
  • Mark students’ formative and summative assessments submissions and provide timely feedback to students on their performance, including writing regular student reports and tutorials
  • Develop and update course material for modules and teaching sessions, including module material for the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)
  • Collaborate and liaise with colleagues where necessary to ensure all students receive appropriate ongoing feedback and academic support
  • Implement quality assurance procedures at module and teaching session level and contribute to the annual monitoring and review of courses
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance and performance
  • Participating in team meetings when required and contributing to effective management of the programme and organisational goals
  • Maintain and submit accurate and timely records of teaching and other activities
  • Participate in wider organisational training and development activities and maintain a log of these activities
  • Carry out any other duties as required from time to time by centre managers

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • A Master's qualification or equivalent is Essential, a PhD is desirable
  • CELTA/DELTA or an equivalent English teaching qualification (Desirable)
  • Experience teaching in UK higher education and working with international students
  • EAP Experience for English teachers
  • Experience working at the postgraduate level is essential
