Applicants are invited to apply for the role of Head of Research Informatics at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, within the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences, University of Oxford.
The Kennedy Institute sits within the major biomedical campus of the University with unrivalled access to patient samples and clinical data as well as cutting-edge genomic and imaging capabilities. Research Informatics is therefore a strategic growth area in the Institute, currently supporting a wide range of research projects. These include clinical studies on knee injuries (KICK), hand pain (HOPE-c) and large collaborations with industry, such as Cartography (Janssen) and STEpUP-OA (Novartis, UCB).
To develop this work, we are looking for a leader in the implementation and management of research informatics capabilities across the Institute with a team of informaticians, web developers and programmers. This role therefore provides a unique opportunity to develop novel informatics solutions in partnership with clinical and discovery scientists from the Institute, Oxford departments, academia and also with industry partners.
Candidates who have a passion for handling diverse biomedical data types and providing cutting-edge integrated data management and analytics capabilities to data scientist and researchers are encouraged to apply.
You will hold a relevant PhD/DPhil with post-qualification research experience surrounding data science and informatic platform use, development and management. You will have a strong working knowledge of data science and informatics approaches and understanding of research data lifecycles from basic science through to experimental and translational medicine research.
This is a full time, fixed-term position for 3 years in the first instance.
