We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and focused assistant laboratory manager to support the Laboratory Management Team in the safe and effective running of our research laboratories at Keppel Street. The role is primarily responsible for the day-to-day support of routine activities in the 2nd floor Schedule 5 laboratory suite.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that shared equipment and shared facilities in the new state of the art research laboratories operate effectively. The post holder will take an important role in supporting the smooth running of the facility and ensuring the quality of our expanding laboratory research and teaching capacity. The role is hands on, and the post holder will be expected to contribute to the technical excellence of the laboratory. The role works closely with the Faculty Safety Partner (FSP) and the Health & Safety Office (H&S Office).
The successful applicant will have a degree in a biological science or equivalent experience, demonstrable experience in managing and organising resources in the context of a working laboratory or facility, experience of health and safety in a research facility and able to work within these guidelines. This post is part-time at 0.5 FTE and is offered on a without duration basis. Salary is on the Professional Support Grade 5 scale in the range £36,438 - £41,829 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London.
