Information Services Division (ISD) is the primary provider of IT services to UCL. We support and enhance learning, teaching, research and administrative processes by providing IT services to over 50,000 staff and students of UCL and associated institutions. Our ambition is to be the leading IT services group in the HE sector and we are growing our team’s capability in agile development, security, cloud, service management and partnering. We are modernising our technology foundations, digitising the university's processes to transform students and staff experience, and partnering across the university to drive differentiation in UCL education and research. Within ISD, this role is part of the Portfolio and Product Delivery department. Our purpose is to manage the delivery of technology led change, partnering with colleagues across UCL. We collaborate as cross-functional agile teams and have core capabilities in user experience, solution analysis, development, testi! ng and ag ile delivery management.

About the role

As a Senior (SITS) Analyst Developer, you will be responsible for writing and maintaining clean, efficient and secure code and configuration for our student records system by following a test-driven approach and ensuring the software is easy for others to use, reuse and support. You’ll collaborate with colleagues to develop stories and features, ensuring these are clear and precise as well as evaluate alternative designs to achieve story definitions considering security and our standards.

You will be involved in:

  • Developing, configuring and customising SITS and e:Vision functionality, batch processes and Stu-Talk interfaces to/from other applications, applying your in-depth SITS technical expertise to meet business requirements.
  • Version control and operating defined release management processes.
  • Producing documentation of designs and processes.
  • Working in an agile development framework with change management procedures.

About you

As a Senior SITS Developer, you understand the full lifecycle of software development, particularly within the Tribal SITS application and its many technical features, system tools and technology stack. You have worked within an Agile development framework and are comfortable collaborating with various stakeholders and team members including product owners, business analysts, other developers, test specialists and business leads. In addition to this, you have experience in managing projects, leading reviews and are comfortable in highlighting improvement opportunities and making changes where necessary.

You will also be able to demonstrate the following:

  • An ability to supervise other technical staff if necessary.
  • Understanding of software development methodologies and version control practices.
  • Ability to document designs and processes clearly.
