The School of Mathematics and Physics wishes to appoint a Lecturer or a Senior Lecturer in Applied Mathematics. Candidates should be passionate about teaching and research, and possess the appropriate dynamism, expertise and qualifications to contribute to the academic development of our Mathematics programmes. You will have a doctorate degree in a relevant specialism, and substantial experience at post-doctoral or equivalent level. The appointees will have developing international research profiles as evidenced by publications in leading journals, and expertise in an applied mathematics area.
Building on our excellent REF2021 outcome in Mathematics, we are keen to further strengthen our research portfolio in Applied Mathematics with particular focus on Industrial Mathematics and/or Data Science and Machine Learning. But we would also welcome applications from other specialisms that fall within the area of applied mathematics research. You will be expected to enthusiastically integrate your research into the mathematics programmes, thus contributing to the University's strategy for research-informed teaching.
The School of Mathematics and Physics was formed within the Faculty of Technology in August 2018, combining our established mathematics provision with our growing physics activities. Our activities in mathematics cover areas of pure and applied mathematics, as well as operational research. 95% of our mathematics research outputs were rated as either world leading or internationally excellent in REF 2021.
