We are seeking a Resource Description Assistant to join the English Cataloguing team, based within the Collections and Resource Description department of the Bodleian Libraries.
You will join a small team responsible for the cataloguing of English language items across a variety of library materials. The bibliographic work consists of copy and original cataloguing as well as enhancing existing records to facilitate reader access to our collections. In addition, you will undertake a range of tasks relating to the distribution of materials throughout the Libraries.
You will have experience of working with structured data and enjoy methodical, precise work requiring a high level of attention to detail. A flexible approach is necessary, as is the ability to work both independently and co-operatively with colleagues. Good written and spoken communication skills are essential. This role involves lifting, shelving and moving books as well as pushing trolleys and using kick-stools.
Previous experience of bibliographic cataloguing will be an advantage although full training will be given to the right candidate.
This is a full-time, permanent position.
