Applications are invited for a Lab technician to join the group of Dr Tihana Bicanic (sgul.ac.uk) to work on a translational laboratory project on the mechanisms of antifungal resistance in the human fungal pathogen Candida. The project would be based in the Mycology Research laboratory at the Institute of Infection and Immunity, St George’s University of London (SGUL), and is funded by the NIHR Exeter Biomedical Research Centre, of which SGUL is a partner organisation.
Applicants will have a BSc in a biomedical science discipline, with skills in routine bench microbiology, including microbial culture and susceptibility testing. Applicants will be enthusiastic about antifungal resistance research and interacting with a team of clinical researchers; well-organized with attention to detail; and be able to undertake all relevant laboratory work following training, with oversight from a postdoctoral research fellow. This post would suit a biomedical scientist with an interest in translational research and relevant practical experience of bench microbiology in either a research or clinical laboratory.
