Full-time, 35 hours per week

Fixed-Term, 12 months in the first instance, with the possibility to extend to up to 6 months

We are looking for a motivated senior technical officer to contribute to the development of a programme of high quality research investigating how presynaptic endocytosis controls synaptic vesicle heterogeneity and cargo processing.

The Opportunity:

To support research by maintaining colonies of transgenic mice, preparing primary neuronal cultures (including autaptic cultures) from these rodents and recording, maintaining and submitting Home Office returns when required. Additional research tasks will be performed, such as biochemical enrichment of subcellular organelles, Western blotting, genotyping and training and supervision as appropriate.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Expertise in primary neuronal culture
  • Experience in standard molecular biology / biochemistry techniques
  • Experience in managing transgenic mouse colonies and associated recordkeeping
  • Ability to co-operate and contribute as part of a research team
  • Degree in a relevant field to the research area such as cell/molecular neuroscience, biochemistry, physiology, pharmacology
