As a Post-Doctoral Researcher, Multiferroics, you will be seconded to RIKEN Research Institute, Tokyo, Japan where you will play a key role in a multi-university project to develop the next generation of Multiferroic materials and technologies for eco-friendly electronic devices. You will characterise and research the quantum physical properties of novel solid-state multiferroic materials, which demonstrate multiple properties such as ferroelectricity, ferromagnetism and ferroelasticity.
You will have a PhD in Solid State Physics, Quantum Physics, Materials Sciences or a relevant discipline and will ideally have knowledge of experimental preparation of solid-state materials samples using sputtering or other in-organic deposition/growth techniques, and measurement and analysis of materials properties, including low temperature phenomena (sub-4K). In addition, experience of the design, preparation and evaluation of test devices and application prototypes and the analysis and development of theoretical physics for solid-state materials and/or quantum phenomenon would be a distinct advantage.
With outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to all audiences, you will be self-motivated and proactive, with creative and inventive problem-solving abilities. You must understand and thrive on the demands of driven industrial research and be able to demonstrate that you work with the same drive and passion as all our teams.

We offer a fantastic holiday allowance (27 days for full time employees), bank holidays, an additional day off to celebrate your birthday and a day off for you to undertake voluntary work aligned with our values. Where appropriate, we will cover the costs of visa sponsorship and provide relocation support if you require this in order to work with us.
We also offer all the usual benefits you would expect, including private health and dental insurance, life assurance, income protection insurance, an Employee Assistance Programme and a pension scheme.
