Université Paris Dauphine – PSL, London campus seek to recruit a Lecturer in Macroeconomics to teach on its interdisciplinary Bachelor’s in Economics and Management. 

Main duties and responsibilities 

  • To teach macroeconomics at the undergraduate level (9 hours in semester x 2 groups 1; 36 hours in semester 2 x 2 or 3 groups). Topics:
    • Representations of national accounts
    • Transactions on products and equality between supply and use
    • The supply and use table
    • The Institutional sectors’ accounts: the sequence of accounts (PERRUC)
    • The Table of integrated economic accounts (TIEA) and the analysis of aggregates and ratios
    • Growth and factors of production
    • Solow model with and without technological progress
    • Overview of the financial system and financial instruments
    • What is money?
    • Demand for money and the determination of interest rates
    • The money supply process
    • Determination of aggregate demand and supply
    • Fiscal policy
  • To hold office hours as required
  • To contribute to the development, planning and implementation of a high-quality curriculum
  • To coordinate with the head of module in Dauphine Paris and the London-based Academic Lead and Undergraduate Programmes Director.
  • To participate in the development, administration and marking of exams and other assessments
  • To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students
  • To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
  • To contribute to raising standards of student attainment 
  • Potentially to participate to working groups / steering committees on development in mathematics and artificial intelligence

Person specification 

  • Excellent subject knowledge
  • PhD completed, or near completion, or MSc + equivalent professional experience, in a relevant area.
  • Previous teaching experience in macroeconomics at the undergraduate level desirable
  • Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy/ Advance HE desirable 

Skills and aptitude 

  • Evidence of ability to teach and to supervise academic work in an international environment.
  • Very good spoken and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to work and achieve high standards.
  • Good planning and organisation skills.
  • Ability to use a range of teaching methods in the classroom and promote a stimulating learning environment.
  • Creative skills and ideas for planning practical and interesting lessons.
  • Effective listening skills.

The successful candidate will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). 

Salary

Depending on experience and education background, from £70-£110 per contact hour.
